The Storage Fit Guide

Rooms

Find storage for the room you are sorting out

Start with the space in front of you. Each room has different limits — pipes in cupboards, door swings, narrow walkways, damp towels, children's toys or a bed frame that sits lower than expected.

Key measurements by room

Bedroom

Measure floor-to-frame clearance before buying under-bed storage. Divan beds, mid-sleepers and frames with centre legs all have different usable heights.

Bathroom

Check whether you have smooth tile or painted plaster before choosing adhesive storage. Over-door and freestanding options avoid surface damage entirely.

Kitchen

Measure internal cupboard width after hinges and a centre stile if present. Under-sink cupboards lose several centimetres to pipework and traps.

Hallway

Leave at least 80–90cm walking clearance after any unit is in place. Depth matters more than capacity in a narrow entrance.

Always confirm dimensions before buying.

Product dimensions listed on retailer pages can differ from what you measure on the shelf. Use our guides and tools to shortlist options, then verify the listed dimensions on the retailer page.
